The Book -[Italiano]

During the spring of 2001, I had a desire to research my Cereghino ancestors.  My dad had a copy of an
Italian book titled, “alla Ricerca dei Cereghino Cantastorie in Favale”.  Within the book was a descendants
chart of one Stefano Cereghino and going down four more generations.  Since my great-grandfather was listed
on that chart, I wondered how many cousins I could find who also had the same ancestry.

With the support of my family, in June of 2001 we sent out a mailing to all Cereghino families I could find using
an on-line white pages.  People began to reply and gave us leads to other Cereghino cousins. I was led to
Cereghinos all over the United States and indeed did find many Cereghinos with my same ancestry.

A year previous to our mailing, my mother had created a genealogy book on one of her German lines.  The
book was a great success which led to my desire to make a similar book about the Cereghino family.  Here in
was born, “A Cereghino Family History  - The Book”.

For nearly three years, I’ve been telling Cereghino cousins I’m making a book and many are probably
wondering if I’ve given up my quest.  Although the research process could go on for years longer, I decided it
was time to get this information published.  Therefore, our goal has been set to be published by December
2004, in order to make copies available for Christmas.

It is important for you to know that this project has not been for financial gain.  All the hours spent by many
faithful Cereghino cousins has all been volunteer efforts.  The book will be sold only for the cost of printing and
shipping.

It is too soon to tell what the price will be since we are unaware of the total number of pages and amount of
photos that will be included.  We will keep the cost as reasonable as possible.  As the number of copies
printed increases, so the cost per copy would decrease.  Therefore, we would love to know who might be
interested in purchasing copies.

Please email the
administrator if you are interested in being informed when the book is available for purchase.
We will contact you personally by email.  If you know of an interested person that does not have email, we
would be glad to mail them a flyer.

Listed below are some of the chapters that will be included in the Cereghino book:

*  Descendants of Stefano Cereghino down through the fourth generation below Stefano.  This particular
Stefano Cereghino is the oldest ancestor listed on the descendants chart located in the book, “alla Ricerca dei
Cereghino Cantastorie in Favale”.  Also included will be many photos and short biographies submitted by many
Cereghino cousins.

* Cereghino Recipes included from this website.

* Folksongs of Andrea Cereghino - written text of many songs translated into English.  Possibly also a CD of
instrumental music.

* English translation of the Cereghino story as it appeared in the 1917 New York Italian language newspaper
titled “L’era Nuova”.  The series of many chapters is titled “Eroi Cristiani Ignoti”.

* English translation of the Cereghino story as it appeared in a HANDWRITTEN Italian book by Paolo
Charbonnier, who was a 19th century Waldensian minister.  He titled his book,  “The History Of The Origin Of
The Waldensian Evangelical Church In Favale,Italy Beginning With The Cereghino Family In The Year 1849
Up Until The Year 1883".  This book was found in the personal items of Kate Gardella Palma after her death.
Her son Paul has kept the book, and Kate’s son Eugene has translated it into English.

* Geographical information about Favale di Malvaro and the surrounding area.  Hopefully we can get
permission to include some maps.  I remember my grandma telling us she always wanted to live on the flat.
After taking a trip to Favale, Italy and walking the streets she walked, I could certainly see why she would say
such a thing.

Listed below are some of the chapters we’d like to include if there is good response from this
website:

* Social customs that have followed Cereghino families to the United States.  We need your help on this
chapter.  What customs did you have in your family that carried over from you Cereghino heritage?

* Cereghinos worldwide - We realize that not all Cereghino families are descendants of this particular Stefano.
We would like to have some way of acknowledging anyone that would like to spotlight their Cereghino
ancestor.

* Cereghinos in the Social Security Death Index with information coming from this website.

* Cereghino immigration with information taken from this website.
